Becoming a member will keep you up to date about the activities of the major role-players in the southern African horticultural industry. Some of the privileges a member can expect within his/her subscription year include:
- Four issues of The South African Journal of Plant and Soil, the jointly peer-reviewed scientific journal of the southern societies involved with Horticultural Science, Crop Science, Weed Science and Soil Science.
- Quarterly newsletters on current South African horticultural issues distributed to members by email
- Networking with other Horticultural societies and forums throughout Africa
- The opportunity to link up with a special interest group within a wide range of focus areas.
- Timely correspondence pertaining to the national congress together with a discount rate at registration. Only SASHS members are eligible for the prestigious prizes awarded at the congress for best presentations and publications in horticultural research.
- Representation at ISHS (International Society for Horticultural Scientists) by the president of the SASHS and one other member of council. In addition, having a local horticultural society also allows us to host international congresses under the auspices of the International Horticultural Society.
Who can become a member?
- Membership is open to any person who qualifies for registration as a natural scientist or as a natural scientist-in-training as well as
- Any individual who is actively involved with or are interested in any activity involving horticulture and related disciplines.
- Membership is open to citizens of all countries world-wide. Applications from other African and developing countries are particularly encouraged.
