Congresses & Symposia
A National Congress is held every 12 to 18 months at which a variety of crops, research disciplines and subjects for discussion are presented. The congress provides researchers and students an opportunity to present their research to a broad audience. Crop and/or discipline oriented symposia and/or workshops may also be offered according to need.
The Regular General Meeting, at which the new Council is elected, also forms part of the Congress. Combined congresses of the four agricultural crop-based societies in South Africa (SASHS, SSSSA, SASCP and SAWSS) are organised by the Combined Congress Coordinating Committee (CCCC) and usually take place in January at various venues.
Lists of awards with photo’s of recipients taken at the Congress and minutes of meetings will also be available on our website soon. The SASHS also hopes to facilitate training Courses and Farmers Days which members can offer and advertise on our website.
